The school is dedicated to the memory of the late Mian Gul for his untiring efforts to introduce education the area and for establishing the first boy school. May Allah bless his soul. FR Peshawar had no school facility before emergence of Pakistan. Its people, therefore, greatly lagged behind in education. Mian Gul of Mandai village having traveled far and wide had come back a few years before the creation of Pakistan. He knew well the importance of education, encouraged by the new government policies, he made efforts to get a primary school sanctioned in Mandai village.
Construction of the school building started sometimes in 1952 amidst high tension and strong lobbing for and against school. Young boys would come and see the construction of their school and dreams of the days when they would study and play with their friends. But the tribes men are unfortunately could not fully comprehend the change that had taken place around them. One day the tribal Jirga stopped the construction by telling the political tehsil Dar that the education of “ferangi” would spoil their children. It was a sad day for the children of school going age of the area and, of course, Mian Gul whose long struggle failed to bear fruit.
Greatly disappointed with the inability of the people to feel the winds of change, Mian Gul didn’t lose heart and continue his efforts. Five years later, in 1957, he succeeded in sanctioning another primary school just inside the settle area on the boarder of FR Peshawar. This pioneering of education institution not only helped in producing high caliber doctors, engineer, teachers, army officers and business men but also opened flood gates for such other institutions in the area. The school was upgraded as high school in due course and is still imparting education to the boys of the area.
Mian Gul Model School for girls and BGM for boys has been constructed just across the road to this pioneering institution and is dedicated to the memory of late MIan Gul for his pioneering efforts in the field of education in FR Peshawar.
